These two volumes contain heliotypes (photographed by C. Jacobi) of Italian decorative arts from public and private collections in Italy. The volumes were originally issued in four parts; volume one (Anno primo) is dated 1890-1891 and volume two (Anno secondo) 1892-1893. The titlepages are printed in red on an ornamental design reproduced in heliotype.
Anno primo has a brief introduction to the publication of the work by Ferdinando Ongania, editor, then three pages listing and identifying the subjects of the following 96 plates. Anno secondo has a brief introduction, then two pages listing and identifying the subjects of the following 80 plates.
