Tischbein for the Collection of engravings from ancient vases ... now in the posession of Sir Wm. Hamilton (1791-7). The three headpieces are also unsigned. The dedication in Volume I is from Dubois-Maisonneuve to 'L'Impératrice-Reine' (as the volume is dated 1808, this must refer to Napoleon's first consort, Josephine). |

Quèrard states that the work was first published in 25 livraisons; and that a second edition was published in four parts in 1816, but Brunet states that this was a reissue of the first edition with cancel title-leaves. |
