General Note

The 12 plates by Selous illustrating The Tempest are published by C. Knight, Pall Mall East and dated April 1825. In addition to the 12 plates illustrating The Tempest, each of the four plays is accompanied by an engraving after a painting by George Francis Joseph ARA. All are un-dated and published by J. Smith, 163 Strand. The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Merry Wives of Windsor are engraved by Stalker; Twelfth Night by Romney. No engraver is given for The Tempest.

Provenance

The front free endpaper is inscribed in black ink “Haydn Mackey from G. Blackwood September 1926.” And “April 13. 1882” in another hand.
