On the founding of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1768, William Hunter became its first Professor of Anatomy - Zoffany's painting, 'Dr William Hunter Lecturing at the Royal Academy of Arts' may be seen at the Royal College of Physicians. As well as being a physician, Hunter made a large collection of scientific objects, coins, books and pictures - which included paintings by Chardin, Rembrandt, Ramsay, Stubbs and Kneller.
