Summary Note

The numbered plates show sepulchral monuments in churches in Florence, Fiesole, Bagno a Ripoli, Galluzzo, Arezzo, Siena, Pisa, Volterra, Pescia, Pistoia and Prato. Most are of the Gothic or Renaissance periods, but some of later date, including work by Neoclassical sculptors of the early nineteenth century. All plates are captioned with the name of the source-artist, if known. These include Andrea Pisano, Benedetto da Majano, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Donatello, Francesco da S. Gallo, Michelangelo, Mino da Fiesole, Canova, Bernardo Rossellini, Stefano Ricci, Raffael da Montelupo, Benedetto da Rovezzano, Orcagna. The plates are all outline engravings.

The unnumbered plates show interior views of churches.

In 1819 V. Gozzini had brought out his Monumenti Sepolcrali della Toscana; but the plates made for that work are not re-used here.
