520 2 # $a Prisse d'Avennes was best known as an epigrapher, and made a significant contribution to the recording of the monuments of Egypt. In 1845 he discovered the Table of Kings at Carnac; which he removed and took to France. He went on to write the first separate history of Egyptian art.
