The verso of the front loose endpaper is inscribed in pencil, 'S.A.H.', i.e. S.A. Hart, librarian of the Royal Academy 1864-81. Purchased for RA Library in 1878 (see RA Annual Report for 1878, p. 51).

Copy Note

The verso of the title-page is stamped 'Duplicate 1837'.

Binding Note

19th-century mottled calf, upper and lower covers having gilt ruled borders and gilt-stamped centre 'WR IIII' within crown and collar lettered 'Honi soit mal y pense'; rebacked in 1989, spine lettered 'Lettres À Canova - Q. De Quincy'.
