Summary Note

The publication-date given on the title page as 1781 is also carried by plate 22 - 'Feby. 9; 1781'. The title-plate and all plates except plate [21], which is undated, carry the date of February 9 1780.

An English title is given on the added engraved title-plate: 'The Genera Insectorum of Linnæus Exemplified By Various Specimens Of English Insects drawn from Nature by James Barbut'. The text is in English and French throughout.

The last two plates are double and folding, and are the only ones which are not coloured.
