Summary Note
Zanotti had been a Founder-Member of the Accademia Clementina of Bologna (1710), and his best-known work was his Storia dell'Accademia Clementina (1739). The present study shows the influence of Bellori. It is critical of the art historian, Malvasia.
Most plates show paintings made by Tibaldi for Cardinal Giovanni Poggi ca. 1555 on the ceilings of two rooms in the Palazzo Poggi (now the Istituto Delle Scienze in the University of Bologna). They depict scenes from the Odyssey.
The decorations of the volume - which are accorded an 'Esposizione' of their own - include several fine engravings of Bolognese architecture.
