Summary Note

This work was first published in 1583. The present edition seems, from the date 1682 on the second title page, to have been originally issued in 1682.

The purpose of Vignola and of Danti was to demonstrate the compatibility of two methods or 'rules' of perspective - that of intersections on a picture-plane and that of distance point construction.

Provenance

Acquired between 1769 and 1802. Recorded in RAA Library, Catalogue, 1802.

Copy Note

Imperfect; lacks the 'libro delle figure'.

20th-century quarter brown morocco, marbled-papered boards; spine lettered 'Prospettiva Pratica Vignola' and '1684'.
