505 0 # $a [T.p.] - [Plates].
508 # # $a None of the reproductions is signed. The original block G carries the imprint, top left, 'In Venezia per Matthio pagano in Frezzaria al segno della Fede'. Pagano was probably not the woodblock-cutter but the printer and publisher.
510 0 # $a M. Bury, The print in Italy 1550-1620 (2001), no.121; D. Rosand and M. Muraro, Titian and the Venetian woodcut [exhibition catalogue] (1976), p.281-3, no. 89; J.D. Passavant, Le peintre-graveur (1860-4), vol. 6, no.98.

A survey of pageantry was B. Holme, Princely feasts and festivals: five centuries (1988).
520 2 # $a The original woodcuts reproduced here were probably intended to be displayed as one continuous sequence. They were lettered A-H and carried Latin captions identifying the persons and things represented: A. eight standards; B. six silver trumpets; C. ambassadors' servants and trumpets; D. servants of the Doge, and canons; E. the Patriarch, the white candle and ceremonial hat; F. the chair, the cushion; G. the Doge, the umbrella, ambassadors; H. senior officials.

The set may be viewed as a generic representation of a Dogal procession; but the standards in cut A are those of the Priuli, implying that the set represents either Doge Lorenzo Priuli (1556-9) or Doge Girolamo Priuli (1559-67).
561 # # $a Purchased for RA Library in 1880 (see RA Annual Report for 1880, p. 42).
563 # # $a 19th-century paper-covered boards, cloth-covered spine; the upper cover printed identically with the title leaf and carrying a printed label reading 'Edition de 100 exemplaires - N.' Inside the upper cover is pasted a printed label, which reads, 'Di prossimo pubblicazione: La processione del Doge nella Domenica delle Palme impressa in Venezia per Mattio Pagan in otto grandi Tavole. Illustrazione di Federico Stefani. Venezia, Agosto 1880. Ferd. Ongania Edit.'
