General Note

The work, first published in 1888-1890, was issued in 6 parts, unbound, and collected in a portfolio. The plates and illustrations in this work were taken from French ecclesiastical buildings. Following the half-title and title-page there is an essay by the authors, 'Note sur histoire de la peinture murale en France', followed by the list of chromolithographic plates. This is followed by the unpaginated text of the parts interspersed with the plates.

Binding Note

The portfolio is covered in green cloth with gold lettering. The authors' names and the full title is on the front board and the spine is lettered, 'La Peinture Décorative en France'.
