Sforza from 1450 onwards, under the direction of Guiniforte Solari. The building is largely Romanesque in character, with Gothic and Renaissance detail. The west façade carries sculpture by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo, Antonio Mantegazza and Cristoforo Mantegazza; the interior is rich with the work of many sculptors.

The plates show plans, elevations and sections of the building, and details of architectural sculpture.
