The rectos of the main text show 101 numbered images of Roman Catholic clergy, monks and nuns, accompanied by a note in German prose, faced by Latin and German verses on the versos of the preceding leaf. (In the Royal Academy's copy some images are pasted in.)

Provenance

The front pastedown carries the armorial bookplate of Arthur Dalrymple. A preliminary leaf is inscribed in pencil, 'S A H' and in ink with a note by 'S:A: Hart RA Librarian' [librarian 1864-81].

Copy Note

The publication-date [1661] has been trimmed from the Academy's copy. A preliminary leaf is inscribed in ink, '1585 is a date on the frontispiece of a German Edition also printed in Frankfort am Mayn S:A:Hart RA Librarian'.
