[5]), Apr. 11 1796 (pl. [6]); 13 May 1796 (pl. [4]); Oct. 1 1796 (pl. [2, 3]); Oct. 1803 (pl. XII); Oct. 10 1806 (pl. VII-XI, XII-XVII). Despite the title, the plates show only human heads and figures, apart from plate [4], which shows a cannon and military engine. Chamberlaine's essay, 'Leonardo da Vinci', includes a short account of the provenance of the drawings. |
