Summary Note

Ruskin's text was intended to accompany a volume of prints issued by the Arundel Society from 1853 and published in 1860 as Arena Chapel, Padua: a series of wood engravings from the frescoes of Giotto, illustrating the lives of the Virgin and our Saviour. The text and the prints describe the paintings executed by Giotto in the Cappella degli Scrovegni at Padua about 1305; which depict the lives of the Virgin and of Christ.

Binding Note

19th-century quarter morocco, blue cloth-covered boards; spine lettered 'Giotto & His Works.'
