The plates show Turks and other peoples of the Ottoman empire - Greeks, Albanians, Hungarians, Vlachs, Armenians, Crimeans, Bulgarians, Persians, Indians, Arabs and north Africans - and even a few visiting French men and women. The hundredth plate shows a Turkish wedding; the two unnumbered plates show Dervishes whirling and a Turkish burial.
