Letter from Charles Russell to Sir Frank Short dates 22 December 1926 pasted to front free endpaper in volume 1.
The front paste-downs of both volumes carry a 20th century Royal Academy bookplate on which is typed: "Presented by Sir Frank Short, R.A. 1929."
