Some of the more ancient monuments have suffered since, but not to any great extent. Cairo itself has undergone great changes, and some of the buildings drawn have been pulled own to make way for the new Boulevards. The Drawings have been reproduced by Sprague & Co.’s Ink-photo process, and the reproductions, with the exception of three (the original of which were copied from drawings by the late Professor Brune, of Paris), were taken originally for the “Architect.” In the description which is here appended the Author is indebted for much of his information to Mr. Stanley Lane Poole’s work on “The Art of the Saracens in Egypt.” (Chapman & Hall), and to Murray’s Handbook on Egypt, revised, 1880, by Mr. F.A.
