Two plates are signed as engraved by I. Collins - that captioned 'The North Prospect of the Cathedral Church of Landaff' ('taken Ao. 1713') and that captioned 'The North Prospect of Westminster Abbey'. The title-page vignette (a view of St Paul's cathedral, London) is signed as engraved by H. Hulsbergh.

Imperfect; many plates are missing, some others have been added. The plates which are present are those of Ely, Hereford, Worcester, Bath, Exeter, Chichester, Oxford (? there are two views of Christ Church quadrangle only), Bristol, Rochester, St David's, Landaff, St Asaph, Bangor, Durham, Carlisle, Westminster (? north), Southwell. There are no plates showing Canterbury, London, Winchester, Lincoln, Lichfield and Coventry, Wells, Salisbury, Norwich, Gloucester, Oxford (?), Peterborough, York, Chester, Windsor, Westminster (?), St Clement Dane's, St Mary Strand. The six added plates show: the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford; the church of St Mary Redcliff, Bristol; St George's, Hanover Square, London (1761); Trinity College, Cambridge (1740) [2 plates]; the Radcliffe Library, Oxford. There is affixed to the front pastedown a list, hand-written in ink, indicating which plates are present and which missing. Copies of a bookseller's ticket are pasted to the plates showing Bristol cathedral and St David's cathedral, reading '... Sold by Henry Overton at the white Horse without Newgate London'.

Binding Note

18th-century calf, upper and lower panels decorated in blind with rectangular panels; rebacked in 20th century, green morocco spine-label lettered 'Views of The Cathedrals In England And Wales'.
