The title-page of the first volume carries the publisher's imprint of Gaetano Schiepatti; those of the second and third, the imprint of 'Luigi Nervetti, Tipografo-Librajo Corsia del Duomo N.992'; that of the fourth, the imprint of 'Luigi Nervetti Tipografo-Librajo Vicolo di S. Zeno N. 5330.'

The printer is named on the half-title verso of Volume I: 'Dalla Tipografia Di Vincenzo Ferrario.'

Ticozzi's entries are very much from a Neoclassical perspective. For example, in Volume II he concludes his entry on the Baroque architect Guarino Guarini (1624-83) with the words, 'Morì per vantaggio dell'arte nel 1683.'

The first appendix adds dictionary-entries. The second consists of essays on architecture, painting and sculpture by F. Algarotti, L. Alberti.

The first group of plates in Volume IV (nos. 1-7) shows artists' monograms; the second, (nos. 1-2) shows figures of a male body and head.
