The first imaginary dialogue is between Poussin and Parrhasius, and includes an account of Poussin's 'Funeral of Phocion' (Paris: Louvre). The second is between Poussin and Leonardo da Vinci, and includes an account of Poussin's 'Landscape with a man killed by a snake' (London: National Gallery).

The note on the print-run reads, 'Des Cent Exemplaires De Ce Petit Livret, Dont Celui Est Le [blank] Sont Tirés {50 Du Format In 18o, 40 En Grand Papier, Et 10 Sur Papier De Couleur.' The Royal Academy's copy is printed on pink paper.
