The work is a compilation of facsimiles of plates from three works by Jean-François Blondel: Cours d'architecture (Paris, Desaint, 1771-1777), De la Distribution des Maisons de Plaisance, et de la Décoration des Edifices en General (Paris, C. Jombert, 1737-1738) and Le livre nouveau, ou Règles des cinq ordres d'architecture - an edition by Blondel of Vignola's Regola delli cinque ordini d'architettura (Venice, 1562-1563). The 225 plates are accompanied by an analytical index to subject type of the plates and a list of the plates.

The letterpress pages and the plates are housed in a brown portfolio with the title printed on a label on the front cover. There is no spine lettering.
