Spedulo, Francesco Nenci, Pietro Benvenuti, Luigi Sabatelli, Giuseppe Colignon) and are signed as drawn by F. Pieraccini or Vincenzo Gozzini and engraved by Lasinio figlio (once as 'Paolo Lasinio').

Summary Note

The French title of the first part reads, 'Collection Des Dessins Des Batiments Et Ornements Nouveaux Exécutés Dans Le Chateau Du Poggio Impérial Proposés Et Dirigés Par L'Architecte Joseph Cacialli Première Partie Florence Chez L'Auteur Et Chez Joseph Molini Libraire MDCCCXXIII.'

The second part has the Italian title, 'Parte Seconda Dell'Opera Architettonica Di Giuseppe Cacialli La Quale Contiene I Disegni Dei Nuovi Ornamenti Aggiunti E Da Aggiungersi All'I. E R. Palazzo Pitti' - with no imprint and no French title.

The text is printed in Italian and French in parallel. The text of Part I describes alterations at Poggio Imperiale from 1765 to 1823; that of Part II gives a history of Palazzo Pitti and descriptions of paintings and frescoes by Benvenuti, Sabatelli and Giuseppe Colignon. Cacialli's works were commissioned by Elisa Baciocci (née Bonaparte) and afterwards by Grand-Duke Ferdinand III (reigned 1814-24). At the Villa del Poggio Imperiale he was responsible for the completion of the entrance front, the Loggetta del Peristilio, the chapel, the Sala Verde and Sala d'Achille. At the Palazzo Pitti he re-arranged the Meridiana pavilion, designed the Sala d'Iliade and the Grand-Duchess's bathroom, and re-arranged the Palatine apartments. He received many other commissions in Florence and Tuscany, including the restoration of Giambologna's 'Appenino' at Pratolino.
