Summary Note

No publication-date is given. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography states that the work was published in 1875. The book certainly post-dates the Royal Academy Winter Exhibition of January - March 1874 since it indicates with an asterisk the works included in that exhibition.

The catalogue is arranged by the year in which a work was produced rather than by the year of its publication.

Provenance

The front loose endpaper is inscribed in ink, 'F.A. Eaton'. Frederick A. Eaton was Secretary of the Royal Academy from 1873 to 1913.

Binding Note

19th-century green cloth, upper and lower covers decorated in blind, upper cover also decorated in gilt with an image of an antlered deer and lettered 'Landseer'; spine unlettered.
