“The society has to record with deep sorrow the death, since its last London exhibition, of its Founder and first President, Sir Francis Seymour Haden. A number of his works have been included in the present exhibition. The etching tools he habitually used, and which have been presented to the Society by Sir Seymour’s family, have been hung with his work.

The Society has also suffered the loss by death of one of its earliest and most distinguished members, Mr. Robert Walker Macbeth, R.A. A selection of his works has been hung in the Gallery.” [p.2].
