[Frontis., t.p.] - Preface - [Text with pl.] - Addenda - Errata - Index Of Names - [Colophon].

Responsibility Note

The name of the author is not given on the title page, but the Preface is signed by 'B.B.' who writes as the possessor of the paintings described.

The frontispiece is unsigned. The plate is signed as painted by Pietro Perugino and drawn and lithographed by J. Harris.

The printer is named on the title-page verso and in the colophon: 'London: William Nicol, Shakspeare Press, (60) Pall Mall.'

Summary Note

Botsfield's collection was rich in Dutch landscapes, but also includes work commissioned by him from contemporary British artists.

The descriptions include a brief record of provenance.

The uncaptioned frontispiece shows a portrait bust - presumably of Botfield (marble busts of him were made by L. Macdonald and W. Behnes). The plate shows a painting by Perugino of the Virgin and Child.

After Botsfield's death his books and pictures passed to the Marquess of Bath, and many remain at Longleat.
