Summary Note

The second series was translated into English as Wonders of European art (1870). The work was translated into English as A brief history of the painters of all schools (1877).

Provenance

The versos of the front loose endpapers are inscribed in pencil 'S:A:H', i.e. S.A. Hart, librarian of the Royal Academy 1864-81.
