General Note

Of the letterpress the leaves [1, 2, 16, 17] are single; leaves [3, 4, 6, 7, 11-14] are double; leaves [5, 8, 9, 10, 15] consist of two double leaves pasted together. Among the plates plates [1, 2, 3, 12, 21, 22, 23, 25] are double; plates [10, 11] consist of two single leaves pasted together; plates [4 -9, 24] consist of two double leaves pasted together; plates [13-20] are single.

Summary Note

Most plates show public processions and pageantry marking the coronation of Leopold I as Holy Roman Emperor at Frankfurt-am-Main in 1658. Plates [13-20] show portraits of various notables.


An electronic edition was published in 2000 (Wolfenbüttel: Herzog August Bibliothek); a microfiche version in 1998 (Urbana, Ill.: University of Illinois Cicognara Program); a microfilm version in 199- (Wolfenbüttel: Herzog August Bibliothek).


A preliminary leaf is inscribed in pencil, 'HW 13 Feb. 1827', and in red ink, '1973'.
