$a The title-plate-cum-dedication is signed as designed by 'Hieronymus Columna' and engraved by 'Julianus Giampiccolus'. The eighteen numbered plates are all signed as designed by 'Marc: Ricci' and engraved by 'Iulian: Giampiccoli'. The name of Tiepolo which appears in the title-plate is not further explained. The name also occurs on the title-plate of the first set of eighteen plates in the form, 'adnitente Joanne Bapta Theupolo', where it is thought that G.B. Tiepolo first etched the figures on the plates before Giampiccoli etched the landscapes round them. It is unclear to which of the Antonio Maria Zanettis this set of plates is dedicated. He is a 'son of Girolamo'; perhaps the description 'Antiquitatis Studiosissimo' indicates A.M. Zanetti the younger. |
