The work was published in parts between November 1732 and early 1735. The work was paginated and signed continuously. Each Book has a separate titlepage; that to Book 1 is engraved, those to books 2 and 3 are dated 1733 and the one for Book 4 is dated 1734.

Provenance

The upper right-hand corner of the first engraved title-plate in Volume II of Copy 1 has an ownership inscription in ink, the surname partially removed, which reads: Thomas G [illegible] Feb.y 9th 1778, Copy 1 was a bequest of Sir Edwin Cooper, October 1961., Copy 2 was presented by Mr Emanuel Vincent Harris, in 1965.

Binding Note

The two volumes of Copy 1 are quarter bound brown leather with gilt lettering on the spines reading, 'Palladio's Architecture', and 'I [II]' and '1735', Copy 2 is lettered with gilt lettering on the spine, 'Palladio's Architecture' and 'R.A. 1735'.
