Summary Note

This publication accompanies the text of J. Fau's Anatomie Des Formes Extérieures Du Corps Humain, published in the same year (and catalogued separately). The work was published to supplement P.N. Gerdy's similarly titled, Anatomie des formes extérieurs du corps humain, appliqué à la peinture, à la sculpture et à la chirurgie (Brussels, 1829).

The plates each show a nude, with the outline of its skeleton visible, alongside an écorché in a similar pose. Plate 17 shows the movement of the scapula, or shoulder bone.

An English version appeared in 1849: The anatomy of the external forms of man ... edited with additions by Robert Knox. With an atlas ...'.
