Summary Note

The title of Volume II reads, 'Dizionario Delle Lingue Italiana ed Inglese. Di Giuseppe Baretti. Più di dieci mila Vocaboli si sono aggiunti che l'Altieri aveva lascaiata fuora. Questa Edizione contiene una Grammatica della due Lingue. Nova Edizione. Volume II. - London, Printed for J. Nourse ... W. Fox. MDCCLXXVIII.'

Baretti's dictionary had first been published in 1760. It went through many reprints and revisions.

Its presence in the Academicians' Library reflects not only the importance of Italian art in western Europe and the large Italian literature on art, but also British receptivity to Italian influences, through study, collecting and travel in Italy.
