The catalogue is grouped much as in the 1802 catalogue, but now in nine sections: [1] Painting and Sculpture, including Prints from Pictures, Statues, Basso-Relievos, Medals and Gems, with Treatises Illustrative; [2] Architecture, with Treatises, &c.; [3] Perspective; [4] Mathematics and Mechanics; [5] Anatomy and Natural History; [6] Mythology, History, Biography, Voyages and Travels; [7] Dresses, Manners, and Ceremonies; [8] Poetry; [9] Miscellaneous. The catalogue lists the books and their locations in the library.
Printed catalogues of the Royal Academy's Library were published in 1802, 1821, 1841, 1864, 1877 and 1901.
Provenance
The front cover is inscribed in ink, 'Henry Howard Secy'and the title page, 'H.H. Secy' - i.e. Henry Howard, R.A., Secretary of the Royal Academy from 1811 to 1847.
Copy Note
The last four blank pages are inscribed in ink with lists of further acquisitions for the Library; and before the last four pages six loose pages have been inserted, also inscribed in ink with lists of further acquisitions. The main text also is inscribed in ink with marginal marks and annotations.
Binding Note
Contemporary paper covers; upper cover carrying printed paper label lettered 'Catalogue Of The Library Of The Royal Academy'.
