Sir Fredk Leighton & Gentlemen

During the past three
weeks of my visitorship in
the Painting School the foggy
weather we have had
interfered very much with
the painting of the students
causing constant and
prolongued interruptions
in their work, but the
bad light culminated
on Thursday of last week

, William F. Yeames, Royal Academy of Arts, London, to Sir Frederic Leighton and Gentlemen

when virtually the day
was lost the to the students.
This morning these the
students in both schools
requested me to allow
them to keep on the models
after time in order to
make up for the total
loss of Thursday. This
request was specially
put forward by the students
who are at work on
studies which are to be
brought before the Council
for the three years extension
-----------------------------------
Under the circumstances
and to ensure fairness
and equality to all students
I took it on myself to
grant the students their
request, not allowing
the extension of time to
exceed the four hours they
lost on the foggy Thursday.
Had time admitted
of it I should have put
the matter before you gentlemen
instead of taking the
responsibility on myself
and trusting that you
would approve of what

Payment of model for students

I have done.
If you should
approve may I suggest
that the extra time the
model will have to sit
should be defrayed by
the Academy instead
of by the students as they
propose.
I remain Gentlemen
Yours faithfully
William F. Yeames.
