Content Description

He has written to to tell of his arrival, "the dullest place I ever was in". Of the 500 subscribers to the only Coffee House he recognises two names, Seward and Major Gascoign of the Middlesex Millity. Recounts his daily routine, provides a fairly downbeat assessment of Yarmouth and his housekeeper, though she broils an excellent Red Herring. He knows nothing of the Play or Assembly rooms, though there are musicians, as they practice daily in the house next door, "an infernal piece of melody". His health improves, and he tried to hire a Parson for conversation and readinld not come.
