He has in his possession a letter from Gainsborough to Reynolds [GAI/16] which belonged to his father,
J.R. Herbert. He believes the letter was given to his father by
John Flaxman. He had always intended to present it to the Academy, but is not in over affluent circumstances. He has been offered £15 or £20 for it.
Includes envelope and a card, carrying a quotation from GAI/16.
