Content Description

He was shocked to hear of Thomas's death, so sudden. One of their Trustees died in similar fashion recently, he had to step in a do a gallery talk as a consequence, which was terrifying. Many artists have returned to Australia recently, Lambert and Streeton chief among them. Lambert regailed them with tales of Palestine. Streeton grumbled about how customs treated him, he has many grievances, but is doing very well, churning out landscapes. [Harold Septimus?] Power has also returned, both he and Coates are doing well.

Mr. Gill, who runs the fine art gallery, would like some of Clausen's work. The returned artists grumble about the National Gallery, Roberts refused to let them have a small landscape, saying it would be an insult to be represented by such a small thing.

He is glad the coal strike is now over. He agrees that the changes spoken of by Clausen must come, Australia is more advanced Democratically.
