Agrees that the "transfiguration" of the picture has made him ill, will take all the varnish off. Asks whether egg & vinegar might be used, glass will not be enough. There are problems with the yellow sleeve. Asks if GR is coming to the Athenaeum. Later pencil annotation "1870".
