Content Description

Describes at length a journey into the Campagna to Tivoli and the temple of Vesta. On his return he received a visit from Dr. Giles. He remembers Sundays spent with Charlotte, but is now able to look back on their brief marriage calmly, the pain is fading. He went to a concert featuring music by Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Tartini, he regards music as vital to his happiness. He saw many German artists among the audience. Details the collapse of a building on the via del Babuino. He is reading Walton's life of George Herbert.
