Discusses events at the Congress on art education, saying he was interviewed by the Daily News, Provides details of a rather hectic work schedule and counts off the location of other members of the family.

He has read Les Miserables again and thinks it the greatest romance in existence. He has also read Dorothy Forster, by W. Besant and St. Ives, by Stevenson, which he doesn't rate.

He summarises recent archaeology of interest, particularly the work of Arthur Evans, who insists he visit Crete. On social matters, he visited Lady Lovelace where he saw Helen Lascelles and a friend of Ernest's, Lambart who is poor and sick of Egypt. His old friend Spencer Stanhope has died in Florence, the last of the old set save Holman Hunt.
