His picture will arrive at the end of March. Either young Herbert will bring it, or Clara when she returns with Frances. He will not be able to make Julia's wedding (later blaming this on his agreeing to copy Michelangelo's Raising of Adam for Leighton). With luck he will make it to England in May, hoping they can winter in Cairo. He has an idea for another large picture, which will occupy him until the Autumn. Describes their beautiful son. They have been busy socially, his studio is "open" on Saturdays. He is hopeful for the success of his his large picture and needs somewhere to store it out of sight until the exhibition. Talks further about his works.
