Painting SCHOOL

THE VISITOR for the time being is MASTER of the SCHOOL. His duty is to
set the Models, to examine and correct the performances of the Students, to give
them Advice and Instruction, and to maintain due Order and Discipline.

SUGGESTIONS AND REMARKS

Instruction
Perhaps a class for "still life" would be of use to students
Or the study of "still life" would be of particular use to selected students.
The study of a still life can continue, easily, for a
longer period than is possible in the case of a nude or draped model
and, thus, students could be introduced to the increasing difficulties
which arise in completing a canvas that is destined to become
a finished picture.

Discipline
excellent
I found the students indulgent of my foibles
and very pleasant and well behaved.

General
The change for the better in the discipline and in
the work since last I was a visitor is so enormous, is so
profound as hardly to be credited.
can only conclude that this is Mr. Russell's work
and humbly suggest that he should be encouraged to continue
The compositions were excellent.
