Content Description
Burgess complains that, after submitting four drawings and two portraits in oils to the exhibition, only one piece, the worst, had been accepted, and one of the rejected drawings was infinitely better than any they had in their room, as were his portraits. Indeed many of the portraits he saw on display were "most vile". Burgess therefore expects appropriate redress.
