Content Description
Spencer thanks the Secretary for his letter accepting his resignation. He makes several statements: he thought that a member was entitled to exhibit six pictures each year; he had not sought membership of the RA; he had in mind that if six of his works were present, there would be sufficient "atmosphere" to make his pictures feel at home; he rejects the statement of the President and Council that the works not selected were not to the advantage of his reputation: he had not asked the Academy for advice on how to preserve his reputation.
