Content Description

Solomon Gibson informs his brother of the death of their mother. The rest of the letter relates to the statue of [William] Huskisson, and the commission for the monument to [William] Roscoe, which Gibson says was likely to go to [Francis] Chantrey. Gibson criticises the committees responsible for both works. He concludes by mentioning their brother, [Benjamin Gibson], who was talking of going to Rome. Gibson thinks that he should stay in England and finish such orders as he had.
