Content Description

The statue of Lord Byron originated with J.C. Hobhouse and the commission was entrusted to Thorvaldsen, The statue was well composed, though not highly finished, the head was suggested from a bust by Bertolini.

In another hand, possibly that of George Byron, Westmacott corrects himself, saying that the head was modelled on a Thorvaldsen bust of Byron.
