A day by day record of Marchant's progression through Europe, giving details of olaces visited and the style of accommodation; provides slightly more detail of his pass through the Alps, noting the prevalence of goitres in the mountain people, attributed to their drinking snow water; his bags are searched on entering the Milanese; he stays for a month in Florence and then continues his journey southward; arrives in Rome on the 1st September and stays at the house of Benedict Armani, Strada dela Croce, which had been recommended to him when in Florence.
