Historical Background

Chambers was appointed architect to the Princess Augusta at Kew, and architectural tutor to George, prince of Wales in 1757.

Content Description

He had called with Mr Carter, son of the Secretary of State for Ireland, he wanted a "trifling" front, but is gone now. He congratulates Chambers on the compliment paid to him by the Prince, and on his friendship with Lord Bute. He will be eating beef or mutton everyday at 4 o'clock, Ramsay wants to meet him when convenient.

On the reverse are rought sketches for architectural projects and sums relating to building materials.
