Content Description

Redgrave was glad to hear through his daughter that Jupp was still engaged in illustrating the catalogues of the Royal Academy exhibition. He had feared that the increasing number of artists would lead to a diminution in Jupp's interest in the work. If etchings came into his plan, Redgrave would be glad to send Jupp one on his return to town in October: he was taking advantage of the pleasant weather to get on with an oil picture for the following spring. Regrave concludes by mentioning his brother [Samuel Redgrave]: he and their sisters were recovering from the shock of a gas explosion which had blown out the front of his brother's house the previous Christmas. His brother was busy writing a catalogue and preface for the watercolour collection at South Kensington.
